First Steps to Discovering the World

Being a Nomad translates into an unlimited wealth of knowledge

Among the various reasons why I handed over the keys to my apartment and unlocked the world, freedom is the one that stands out. We believe we’re free in our own little bubble called Home. However, being a Digital Nomad has already taught me that I knew nothing about freedom! It’s a hole in the system, which anyone can step in, take it and never been convicted by truly experience the sense of freedom. Being a Nomad translates into an unlimited wealth of knowledge, which is soaked up like a sponge — not from the books, but from the travels, the interactions with cultures and peoples, the admiration of diverse architectures, stories, paint strokes and melodies.

I must admit, such freedom comes at a price! Part I: Loneliness! Ironic, indeed! Part II: Where am I traveling to? Florida, Madeira, Bali, Rio, Sydney, Oslo, Cuzco, Cairo, Rome… the Moon! I looked for the programs available to battle out these questions, only to be left entirely helpless! My options were:

  • All-inclusive adventures at excessively high monthly rates
  • Short travel trips with no time for work (although these are advertised to Digital Nomads)
  • Stereotypical destinations, where you’ll stay 3 months by the beach and surf all day (again, no time to work)
  • Remote places not suitable for a solo traveler (let alone a female one)
  • Nomad communities (apps, groups and similar) where everyone wants to go somewhere, meet up and host. However, after the 3rd direct message, they turn into ghosts and disappear into the Metaverse

My verdict: none of these — I was gonna go totally Solo! Still in the hope of finding a travel-buddy along the way, I cannot help to realize that being a Nomad is an everyday choice. In other words, I decide to continue this journey daily, knowing I can return at any given time. This is part of the freedom of a long journey with an open-return ticket Home!

Looking forward, where should I head next? Nature or city? Winter or Summer? Europe or Asia? Earth or Mars? As I unveil these thoughts, I hope you stick around to read all about my adventures and share yours! These will become more and more narrow to very specific locations, aiming to unlock some hidden treasures of our world!
